Dr. Ahmed Al-Issa, Minister of Education, revealed that the ministry plans to get rid of rented buildings by 2020, but he explained that there is a need for schools every year, especially since there is a plan to build 1,600 new schools, and Al-Issa estimated the current rented schools between four to six thousand rented educational buildings.

Al-Issa stressed during the opening of the Investment and Financing Conference for Educational Buildings yesterday that the committee tasked with inventorying and evaluating the ministry's lands is nearing completion, and its results will be announced soon. Al-Issa pointed out that the inventory of land varies from one place to another, and from one region to another, noting that once completed, their prices will be evaluated to be available to the private sector to enter into a partnership in financing and building schools.

Issa emphasized the importance of partnership with the private sector in educational buildings, pointing out that his ministry seeks to provide distinguished schools that provide a suitable educational environment for male and female students through partnership with the private sector.

It should be noted that the Ministry of Education has implemented more than 5,000 educational buildings during the past ten years, and is responsible for the operation and maintenance of more than 22,000 educational buildings throughout the year, and the Ministry is following up the restoration, rehabilitation, maintenance and expansion projects in many educational projects.
