Contractors and the Business Sector Share Their Views on Projects

Following its recent meeting with Minister of Labor Eng. Adel Faqih, recently, with the participation of the national committees of the Council of Chambers, to achieve its demand for the business sector to participate in expressing its views and opinions on the projects the Ministry of Labor intends to implement and to submit their proposals regarding the drafts of those projects through the «Ma’a» portal under the Ministry’s slogan «Join us in improving the Ministry of Labor’s decisions before they are issued,» The committee prepared a template for the construction sector’s feedback on seven draft decisions by the Ministry of Labor and sent it in an urgent circular to its member contractors through the chambers of commerce in various regions of the Kingdom, urging them to participate by expressingon the Ministry of Labor’s decisions.
Through this step, the National Contractors Committee aims to unify the position of the construction sector and investors in this sector regarding the draft decisions on which the Ministry of Labor has requested the business sector’s participation, and to unify contractors’ viewpoints regarding the labor market and workers. The model template prepared by the committee includes comments on the Ministry’s draft decisions regarding issues such as the adoption of amendments to Saudization rates, the amendment of Article 16 of the regulatory regulations, the decision on counting expatriate workers, how to calculate the amount for those absent from acquired visas, determining the impact of wages for Saudis and those treated as such on Saudization rates, the non-renewal of work permits for expatriate workers at entities in the yellow zone, and the amendment of the formula for calculating Saudis in Saudization rates.
