“Saudi Arabia's first engineering conference lays the groundwork for the future of engineering with 200 specialized papers

The International Engineering Conference and Exhibition, organized by the Saudi Institution of Engineers under the theme ”Raising Engineering Standards towards National Development”, opened yesterday evening at the Four Seasons Hotel in Riyadh from 4 to 7 September as the first conference of its kind in the Kingdom.

Conference establishes the future engineering project

At the opening ceremony, Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Engineer Abdulrahman Al-Fadhli delivered a speech on behalf of the Minister of Commerce and Investment Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, explaining that the conference will establish the project of the engineering future and build a better tomorrow through this large scientific gathering, which will present in-depth engineering experiences with a significant research movement, to sensitize engineers to current issues and renew engineering thought in light of what is happening around them in the world.

Minister of Commerce and Investment Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Fadhli said that the conference will establish a foundation for drawing the engineering future project. The speech of the Minister of Commerce indicated that the gathering of distinguished creative engineers in the Kingdom who will be awarded the Creativity and Excellence Award granted by the Saudi Council of Engineers in its first session for the first time to creative Saudi engineers, the award represents a continuation of the efforts of the Authority in implementing its plan to promote the engineering profession and create incentives to raise quality and creativity, and contribute to the advancement of the profession, encourage research and development, innovation and creativity, and motivate individuals and institutions in design and invention.

200 workshops

200 specialized working papers to promote engineering standards

For his part, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Council of Engineers, Dr. Jamil bin Jarallah Al-Baqawi, said that the International Engineering Conference and Exhibition is a qualitative initiative that gives the engineering sector locally, Gulf and Arab countries global components through the exchange of experiences and the presentation of opinions and experiences through 211 speakers representing about 32 countries.

Al-Baqaawi said that the Commission seeks in this international forum to stimulate creativity, promote engineering standards and achieve knowledge exchange through the presentation of about 200 specialized working papers presented by experts and specialists from 32 countries to translate the latest engineering methods and treatments in various fields and present the latest engineering disciplines that have reached the progress and advancement of the engineering profession.

For his part, Mr. Al-Baqaawi explained the importance of the international forum. For his part, the Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the conference, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Council of Engineers, Dr. Bassam bin Ahmed Ghulman, explained that the Commission has worked and continues to implement its vision to promote the profession and enable engineers and engineering institutions to reach optimal solutions, raise the level and encourage creativity and innovation to achieve a prominent position internationally in this field.

Honoring sponsors and engineers with the Excellence and Creativity Award

At the end of the ceremony, the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture honored the companies and sponsors, where Mr. Abdulaziz Al-Issa, Editor-in-Chief of Amlak Real Estate Newspaper, received the honor shield from the Minister in recognition of the newspaper's role in its specialized sponsorship of the conference and exhibition, and honored the winners of the Engineering Excellence and Creativity Award presented by the Saudi Council of Engineers for the first time this year, achieved by 90 engineers from all over the Kingdom who made contributions to their work.
