The «Lebanese Credit Bank» revealed that the volume of foreign direct investment inflows reached $2.63 billion in 2017, compared to $2.61 billion in 2016 and $2.34 billion in 2015.
A report by the «General Organization for the Promotion of Investment in Lebanon» (IDAL), titled “The Era of Reforms” and published by the «Lebanese Credit Bank,» confirmed that these inflows contributed to financial and economic developments, which in turn helped strengthen working relationships between Lebanese and foreign investors, proposing appropriate policies, working to improve the investment climate in Lebanon, and promoting the country as an attractive investment destination through its campaigns, media coverage, and participation in conferences and trade shows.» It noted that it provided «support for 80 projects last year worth $3.6 billion,» revealing that these projects «will create 12,052 jobs.”
The IDAL report noted that Lebanon accounted for «the third-highest share of total foreign direct investment in the West Asia region last year, at 8.5 percent, Turkey ranked first with a share of 35.3 %, followed by the United Arab Emirates with 33.6 %, then Lebanon, followed by the Sultanate of Oman with 6.1 %, and then Jordan with 5.4 %.»
