The Authority explained that this regulation aims to enable the widespread provision of IoT services, stimulate the exploitation of business opportunities in the field of IoT technologies and applications, and to provide multiple solutions and alternatives for IoT services, such as Low-Power Wide-Area Networks (LPWAN), in addition to contributing to the improvement of the quality of various services through the use of diverse IoT applications.
The Authority also noted that the adoption of the regulatory framework for the Internet of Things followed careful studies, an evaluation of a number of international experiences in this field, and a review of similar regulations in several leading countries in this sector.
The adoption of this regulatory framework is part of the Communications and Information Technology Commission’s efforts to enable modern technologies in the field of communications and information technology, including Internet of Things (IoT) applications, which offer an advanced concept that enables all objects to connect to the Internet or to each other to send and receive data and perform specific functions through the network.
