Press reports have revealed that notary offices have registered approximately 42,300 mortgaged properties over the past 167 days since the beginning of the current Hijri year, a 60 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
Notary offices in the Riyadh region led the number of Mortgaged properties totaled approximately 9,101, accounting for the largest share—21.5 percent—of all mortgaged properties, followed by the Makkah region with 7,003 mortgaged properties, then the Eastern Province with 7,000 mortgaged properties.Meanwhile, the Asir region recorded 4,548 mortgaged properties, followed by Al-Qassim with 4,018 mortgaged properties, then the Madinah region with 2,300 mortgaged properties, and the Al-Jawf region with 1,945 properties, followed by the Hail region with 1,490 mortgaged properties, followed by the Northern Border region with 1,459 properties. The number of mortgaged properties in Jazan reached 1,153, followed by the Najran region with 876 mortgaged properties, while the Al-Baha region recorded the lowest number of mortgaged properties, with 810 since the beginning of the Hijri year.
