Mr. Abdulaziz Al-Issa writes Corona trillions

«Amlak» was among the first to warn of the «coronavirus» pandemic that swept the world due to the virus's behavior and its effects, as it caused severe human and material losses and spread across the entire world; the main reasons for its spread are people’s natural movements through travel and social interaction, Some countries did not take the coronavirus seriously and fell into a severe medical crisis; lockdowns were enforced, and food markets began to see hundreds of people lining up to buy food.

Consequently, the world was gripped by great panic, and people forgot about any ties, barriers, or alliances; and the fear of death remained the strongest bond among them, as they watched ambulances, police, military, and hearses pass by. Neither ambulances, nor supplies, nor hospitals were sufficient to cope with the COVID-19 disaster, Everyone was at a loss in their own countries, with no solutions in sight; nations turned to others whose citizens had recovered from the pandemic; alliances and relationships fell apart; travel was halted; and borders between countries were closed; some countries were unable to evacuate their citizens from other nations, Chaos ensued in the United States after the disease spread there, and emergency meetings were held to find solutions to halt the collapse of the system, the financial markets, and the economy—a collapse that caused billions in losses. Ultimately, the Senate and the White House approved an agreement to support the economy and provide relief to help restore normal life and to find a cure, even as trading on the stock exchanges was suspended. The government was forced to inject $2 trillion into the economy, and global markets rebounded as a result; however, the disease continues to spread, and people are still waiting for relief in the form of a cure.

Amid these measures, the weaknesses in the plans and strategies of many countries were exposed, while some Gulf states—led by the Kingdom—took very swift action, with citizens and residents alike cooperating wholeheartedly, which were accepted by all and had a positive impact in mitigating the spread of the virus within the country. The state, may God protect it, made tremendous efforts and, despite the difficulty, issued decisions in record time: it closed mosques, schools, and universities; suspended government and private-sector work; and implemented partial lockdowns… These measures were successful thanks to the cooperation and solidarity between government agencies and citizens, for nothing is more important than human health.

We must thank our leaders, those in charge of the state, our heroes, and everyone who contributed to limiting the spread of this pandemic. We ask God for safety and health for all, and that we may hear news that brings joy to everyone—the discovery of a cure and the end of the coronavirus crisis.
