Suspended ceilings are one of the most important architectural means used to fill spaces, and they are considered the ideal solution for architects to solve design problems such as covering the basic components of each building, such as central air conditioning and fire hydrants.

The use of suspended ceilings becomes a necessity in companies and hospitals to cover multiple connections and facilitate the installation of additional connections over time. In residential spaces, the functions of suspended ceilings are complemented by an aesthetic function.

There are many purposes that necessitate the use of suspended ceilings in various buildings, the most important of which are:

Concealing installations related to ventilation, air conditioning, air ducts, and other systems.

It is used as sound insulation between floors.

- It allows for good distribution of lighting, especially in shops.

It facilitates the periodic maintenance of air conditioning, electrical work, and other related tasks.

It can be maintained periodically by replacing damaged parts.

Disadvantages of suspended ceilings:

Using a suspended ceiling reduces the height of the original ceiling, and the process of installing the ceiling requires skill and experience.

Firstly / Gypsum ceilings:

1- Plasterboard:

Types of plasterboard :

- Regular plasterboard: It is covered with a layer of cardboard in ivory or white, and the inner surface is gray. It is used for all interior work and walls as well.

– Fire-resistant plasterboard:

It is covered with a layer of ordinary gypsum board and is used more in walls than in ceilings.

– Plasterboard that is resistant to both heat and humidity:

It is one of the best types of plasterboard, as it is covered with a layer of reinforced cardboard and the core is made of silicone and fiberglass. This type is used in kitchens, bathrooms and areas with high humidity, and it is preferred to use it throughout the house because of its wonderful design specifications.

2- Gypsum board tiles:

It is made from lightweight gypsum boards and is moisture-resistant and also provides heat insulation.

3- Eco Stop: Soundproof ceiling tiles

Secondly, wooden ceilings: These are not widespread as they are expensive and require a long time to install.

Thirdly/ Extended mesh roofs

The extended mesh is characterized by its quick installation and ease of shaping, making it possible to create uneven surfaces such as curves and abstract shapes in decorations.
