50 initiatives define the smart cities strategy for the municipal and residential sector in 9 services

Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing Majid Al-Hogail announced today the adoption of Smart Cities Strategy for the municipal and residential sector. Al-Hogail said the strategy includes the launch of more than 50 initiatives in 9 areas by 2030.

Using Artificial Intelligence

Haqeel emphasized that the ministry aims to transform municipal and residential sector services into smart services using artificial intelligence and Internet of Things technologies to provide services that promote economic prosperity, environmental sustainability, and effective government oversight.

The strategy was built with the participation of all municipalities in the municipal sector, where it was developed for each municipality, including a roadmap extending to 2030, and 6 goals that take into account the priorities and challenges of each region.

9 targeted sectors
The sectors are: Smart Parking and Waste Disposal, Smart Housing and Community Management, Smart Land and Asset Management, Urban Landscape Improvement, and Urban Planning.

3 key objectives of the initiatives
The ministry emphasized that through the strategy, it seeks to achieve three main objectives: improving the quality of life of citizens, achieving financial sustainability, and improving the quality of services provided.

Smart cities will contribute to creating solutions to the difficult challenges associated with development, most importantly sustainability, congestion, transportation and energy use, and seek to improve the quality of life for all members of society.
