Ministry of Commerce: 1211 commercial registrations for logistics services

The Ministry of Commerce revealed that the total number of existing records for the activity logistics has reached 1,211 commercial registrations. The Riyadh region topped the list of regions with 563 registrations, followed by the Makkah region with 356 registrations, and then the Eastern Province with 161 registrations.

514 registrations since the beginning of the year

The Ministry clarified that the number of commercial registrations issued for logistics services stood at 514 since the beginning of the year, as of August 10, and the Kingdom has made tangible progress in the logistics sector, with the goal of becoming a global logistics hub by 2030, given its inherent strengths. Through the programs and initiatives it has launched, the Kingdom has successfully attracted local and foreign investment in the logistics sector.

Nine Initiatives to Support the Logistics Sector

The Kingdom has made significant progress in logistics, as the Ministry of Transport and Logistics launched nine initiatives to advance the logistics sector, which has attracted foreign companies and investments to the Kingdom to invest in logistics services.

Logistics services have made strong progress in related activities, namely import and export, by reducing time and costs and increasing the regularity of the process of importing goods and merchandise through process reengineering and greater reliance on automation, They have also made progress in digital transformation, enabling importers to track the status and real-time location of their shipments.

New Transportation Routes

A new master plan for transportation infrastructure has also been developed to improve quality, safety, and efficiency in the sector. The plan aims to develop infrastructure, including the land bridge project that will connect the Kingdom’s eastern and western coasts, and two new railway lines: the railway line connecting the GCC countries in the east, and the Yanbu-Jeddah railway line in the west (passing through King Abdullah Port and King Abdullah Economic City).

The establishment of new multimodal logistics hubs is also expected to meet the growing demand for connections between sea and air, rail and road, and air cargo, through the modernization of airports, the expansion of air cargo facilities, and the development of seaports.
