Statistics: 6.8% rise in industrial production index in January

The Industrial Production Index for last January rose by (6.8 %) compared to the same month of the previous year (January 2022), as a result of increased activity in mining and quarrying, as well as in the manufacturing sector.

The results of the monthly bulletin from the General Authority for Statistics, the index for mining and quarrying activity for January 2023 rose by 3 % compared to the same month of the previous year (January 2022), while manufacturing activity rose by 19.2% compared to the same month of the previous year (January 2022), and electricity and gas supply activity declined by 3.4%. Compared to January 2022.

It is worth noting that the General Authority for Statistics publishes a number of statistical products related to industry, including the Industrial Production Index, an economic indicator that reflects relative changes and trends in the volume of industrial production based on data from the Industrial Production Survey, which is conducted monthly and targets industrial establishments engaged in the following activities: namely mining and quarrying, manufacturing, and electricity and gas supply.
