<In less than a month since Mr. Majid Al-Haqeel assumed the portfolio of the Ministry of Housing, he set two tracks for him to move according to plans and strategies that will hopefully bear fruit and pave a path for the ministry to reach its goals: The first track is to accelerate the completion of current projects and the implementation of previous decisions, and the second track: Reform policies and new plans to anticipate the future of the ministry, here is a panorama of Minister Al-Haqeel's first month in his new position.

First Day

First official working day of Minister Al-Haqeel

After the Eid al-Fitr holiday, and on the first official working day of the Minister of Housing, Mr. Majid al-Hogail, the ministry began to take a new direction through the policies of its young minister who came from the private sector experience in real estate development and financing, a man who knew closely the housing issues and the ambitions and dreams of citizens.

On the first official working day of the minister, he explained that he pays special attention to the Real Estate Fund, describing it as the most important sectors that contributed to the construction and development process witnessed by the Kingdom over the past years, where the Fund had a role and great achievements in its field that made it the object of trust from everyone and Al-Haqeel looks forward to the Fund having a greater role in the near future.

The 100-day plan

He renewed his confidence in the competencies of the ministry, and directed all branches of his ministry to accelerate the completion of projects and to put the horse in front of the cart, he committed them to a short-term plan (100-day plan) to develop solutions to the challenges and obstacles of the first phase of the housing products available in the housing support program, which includes about 306.6 thousand housing products, including about 12.5 thousand housing units, 252.2 thousand (land plot + loan), in addition to 41.9 thousand loans to buy a residential apartment.

Solving the labor issue for contractors

The minister is working with specific strategies through which he examines all aspects of the housing issue, and among the major issues facing the ministry is the failure of projects, and the availability of labor, which was discussed with the Minister of Labor recently, in order to solve some of the issues of contractors, because all that hinders housing is a series of nodes in one system.

Involving the Saudi Engineers Association

In the same context, the Minister of Housing included the Saudi Engineers Organization as an original party in finding solutions and proposals because of its expertise and ideas, and in turn, the organization reacted to the minister's initiative and asked its employees to submit their views and proposals while retaining all their intellectual property rights in order to contribute to solving the housing crisis.

Selecting Dr. Ali Al-Attiyah as Advisor to the Minister of Housing

In the ministry's quest to open up more to the private sector and foreign giant companies, the ministry's cadres were strengthened with the selection of Dr. Ali Al-Attiyah, former Deputy Minister of Higher Education, as an advisor to the Minister of Housing, who has an extensive background in government work. Al-Attiyah is a real addition to the quality of work and the implementation of the ministry's plans and strategies, which confirms the determination of the Minister of Housing Mr. Majid Al-Haqeel to achieve unprecedented achievements in the ministry.

Discussing the causes of stalled projects

The ministry has been keen to emphasize its specialized departments to follow up the contractors implementing housing projects, investigate the reasons for the failure of some of them, and take the necessary action regarding them, and the ministry has threatened to withdraw some projects from defaulting contractors, especially projects that started work more than three years ago.

Dreams of more than 754 thousand waiting citizens

More than 754,000 citizens on the Ministry of Housing's housing eligibility lists are waiting for a good sign through more reforms and supportive policies by harnessing and combining efforts with the private sector through a set of solutions and considering real estate developers as a strategic partner to achieve the ministry's desire to build housing units for citizens and ensure investments in this promising sector to reflect on the economic movement as a whole.

Reducing pressure on the ministry

All these policies and shuttle movements that took place in less than a month since Mr. Majid Al-Hogail assumed the “Housing” portfolio will ease the pressure on the ministry by addressing direct construction, and to devote itself to legislation and regulating market mechanisms, enabling it to reach its goal at the maximum possible speed, while it seeks to find research centers concerned with population development to build sustainable development standards based on scientific foundations.
