Will the AI revolution affect the future of jobs?

Dr. Mons Shujaa

This question is often asked, especially in the midst of the rapid developments of technology, especially artificial intelligence and its current revolution. Perhaps we will stand here with a quick historical look at the previous industrial revolution and thus we will have indicators of the results of the impact of artificial intelligence.

We will start with the industrial revolution.

We will start from the third industrial revolution, which began in the middle of the last century until the year 2000 AD, which was known as the digital revolution during which computers, devices and automation of industrial procedures spread, as machines were programmed to replace labor and accomplish faster and more accurately than humans, and many industrial jobs were affected at the time, but on the other hand many other jobs appeared. In a recent study by the United Nations International Labor Organization (ILO), the impact of artificial intelligence on jobs will be severe; according to the British Daily Mail, a recruitment website conducted a year-long study during 2022 and 2023, analyzing fifty-five million jobs that require 2,500 different skills and concluded that “the more a job can be performed remotely, the more likely it is to be affected by the AI revolution.”

The most important of these jobs were those that were most affected by the AI revolution. <Software engineers, accountants and bankers will be the most challenged jobs, with software engineers, accountants and bankers facing the greatest challenge. But as the results of the Third Industrial Revolution, which had a direct impact on the labor force at the time, AI will have other positive aspects in the near future in terms of generating and creating jobs that previously did not exist or new ways to perform those jobs using modern AI techniques with the help of humans, God willing.
