<The Architecture and Design Authority launched the “Urban Transformation” initiative, which aims to guide the transformation and activation of public spaces in the Kingdom and create more inclusive and multi-use public spaces to enhance social interaction in the formation of the Kingdom's cities. This step comes within the Authority's efforts to develop the sector and create vibrant environments that contribute to strengthening social ties between members of society. The initiative aims to lead urban transformation to improve design excellence and raise awareness of its importance, encourage partnerships and fill gaps in the urban transformation system to raise the quality of public spaces, disseminate knowledge, build capacity and competencies in the urban transformation process with continuous development, and support the ambition of stakeholders in the long term.

The initiative is focused on stimulating social interaction in all cities of the Kingdom. The initiative focuses on six types of public spaces, including public spaces and squares, indoor public spaces, streets and footpaths, sports venues, in addition to natural open spaces, parks and gardens, as the initiative targets secretariats and municipalities, development authorities, consultancy offices, real estate developers, non-profit organizations, and students of architecture and design disciplines.

The initiative focuses on six types of public spaces, including public spaces and squares, indoor public spaces, streets and footpaths, sports venues, in addition to natural open spaces, parks and gardens. <The initiative's outputs include a comprehensive urban transformation guide for planning and implementing projects that aim to create more inclusive and multi-use social spaces, as this guide ensures more consistency, efficiency and knowledge of best practices for entities involved in transforming public spaces, in addition to an urban project evaluation report and benchmark studies that review an overview of the initiative and the urban transformation system and its elements, in addition to providing a study of existing initiatives and guides, locally and internationally, and highlighting the framework that includes 18 criteria designed to measure the success of the urban transformation process, which is designed to measure the extent of the urban transformation process. <According to Architecture and Design Authority, the Urban Transformation Guide is available free of charge to all interested parties, and the Authority invites the sector community to visit the official page of the initiative to learn more about it and browse the guide through the following link: https://engage.moc.gov.sa/urban-transformation/?
