His Excellency the Minister of Municipalities and Housing, Mr. Majid bin Abdullah Local Content, stressed the great role that local content plays in achieving the Kingdom's Vision 2030 by strengthening the national economy, increasing local production and creating sustainable job opportunities for Saudis, in addition to stimulating local and international investments.
His Excellency participated in a panel discussion entitled “Future Trends of Local Content under the Kingdom's Vision 2030", which was held as part of the Local Content Forum. This came during his participation in a panel discussion titled "Future Trends of Local Content in light of the Kingdom's Vision 2030", which was held as part of the Local Content Forum 2024, in Riyadh over two days.
Haqeel explained the role of local content in achieving the Kingdom's Vision 2030. Al-Haqeel explained that there are key steps on which the ministry relies, including the establishment of specialized units and teams to follow up the implementation of the regulations and guidelines of the Local Content Authority, stressing the importance of activating initiatives that increase the percentage of local content in projects, which contributes to enhancing the sustainability of the national economy and increasing the Kingdom's competitiveness at the regional and global level.
Haqeel said. He pointed out that the ministry's initiatives directly contribute to the local economy, including quality of life and infrastructure projects, and one of the prominent initiatives he discussed was the inclusion of local content certification as an optional criterion when evaluating and classifying facilities, with the aim of incentivizing the use of national products and local factories.
He pointed out that the ministry is working to increase the percentage of local content in projects. The Ministry is working to add a QR Code on building permits, allowing developers, contractors and citizens to quickly access lists of national products and certified local factories, he said, adding that the modern construction initiative has reduced the duration of projects and increased the quality of buildings, as the amount of construction waste decreased by 901 TP3T, as the housing program achieved one of the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 by raising the percentage of home ownership to 63.71 TP3T.
