<The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing and New Square Development Company, a Public Investment Fund (PIF) company, have signed a memorandum of cooperation aimed at enhancing areas of cooperation in developing urban projects and harmonizing related targets to achieve urban integration and quality of life, in accordance with the approved regulations and instructions.
The two sides were represented by H.E. Deputy Minister of Municipalities and Housing Mr. Ihab bin Ghazi Al Hashani and CEO of New Square Development Company Michael Dyke.
The memorandum included cooperation in studying the integration of urban uses of major projects, harmonizing afforestation policies, pavement design rules, green spaces and architectural identity, taking into account traffic safety requirements and reflecting national trends for sustainable development, as well as benefiting from international best practices in the development of city centers and infrastructure projects.
The areas of cooperation include the exchange of technical expertise in the fields of urban design, the adoption of technical and procedural manuals for construction and operational projects, as well as the implementation of community participation programs and initiatives that serve the residents of the project and nearby neighborhoods and enhance the participation of various segments of society.
It also included cooperation in qualifying real estate developers and contractors, raising the efficiency of real estate development works, reviewing modern technologies in construction and the appropriateness of their application, as well as supporting initiatives related to real estate technology "Proptech" to contribute to enhancing sustainability in the New Square destination.
Both parties emphasized that the memorandum of cooperation represents a supportive step to integrate efforts between the relevant authorities in the field of urban development, and contributes to achieving the objectives of sustainable urban development.
