The Revolution of a Friend: Saleh bin Farhan al-Hariri

He was my friend, and more than that—he was my brother, who One day I felt a sense of pride whenever I was called by his name. Between us there was a covenant, a pact, stories, and longings; He knew me intimately, and I knew him with my heart; he entrusted me with his secret, and I entrusted him with the keys to mine. A secret, in his view, is like a well—and as the saying goes (Put your secret in a well!), but the depth of this meaning is very superficial, for a well contains water, and things—including my secrets—may float to its surface, falling into the hands of all those who are thirsty and draw from that well!

Who among us does not have a friend, a brother, or a companion? The names are many, but the meaning is one. Friends are like trees; they differ from one another depending on the soil, the fruit, and other factors. The towering palm tree is not like the grain stalk bearing grain, and the sloping branch is not like the branch of a grapevine that grows and bears fruit even as it bends!!

A philosophy understood only by those who have known a true friend—its letters and meanings have stirred in the hearts of the faithful until they painted the most beautiful picture, colored by the events of time. Nothing adds beauty to our features except them—and, without a doubt, my morning coffee.!said Al-Mutanabbi

The worst of lands is one without friends

And the worst thing a person can earn is what deafens them

You can never find anything to compensate for that enchanting moment when you see your true friend, and he sees you in the same way. For I find a place devoid of friends to be like a barren, jagged desert that stretches out its edges and drives away the sky’s tears!

My friend, you are not my role model, nor am I yours, but our shared experiences ensure that we know our hearts are like tombstones, held in the hands of the Most Merciful, who turns them as He wills,

So do not be angry over a moment of rage that led to the breaking of that ear of wheat, or the sharpness of a saw that shattered the trunk of that palm tree.
