During a forum in Al-Ahsa: Investments in airport lands flirt with businessmen and venture capitalists

Posted in

Businesspeople and investors are expected to turn their attention to investing in airport land, as the Civil Aviation Authority announced during its participation in the Al-Ahsa Investment Forum—which recently concluded—its plans for several airports, targeting investment in their land for various activities in the first phase. These plans are based on preliminary studies that covered passenger traffic, geographic location, land prices, and investment opportunities in the region, as airport lands cover vast areas.

Sakhr Al-Melhem, Director General of Commercial Development and Properties at the General Authority of Civil Aviation, explained that the airports targeted in the first phase are: King Abdulaziz International Airport, King Khalid International Airport, King Fahd International Airport, Abha Airport, Al-Qassim Airport, Hail Airport, Bisha Airport, Al-Baha Airport, Yanbu Airport, Jazan Airport, and Al-Ahsa Airport.

The activities targeted at these airports under this plan include: commercial service complexes, hotels and hotel apartments, medical centers and hospitals, cargo villages, and shopping malls.

It is worth noting that the Civil Aviation Authority previously announced its intention to designate certain activities and airports, with the aim of supporting the services provided and increasing financial revenue.

The Authority’s Director General of Commercial Development stated that the projects currently being proposed—and those the Authority plans to launch in the near future—are more numerous and larger in scale than those already implemented, and represent massive investment opportunities for the local and foreign private sectors.
