Al-Qassim – Amlak
The Competition Protection Council conducted a preliminary investigation into several concrete block factories in the Al-Qassim region, undertaking a number of investigative measures, including research, evidence gathering, and inquiries into the possibility that these factories had colluded to fix sales prices.
Agreeing to fix prices constitutes a clear violation of the Competition Protection Council’s regulations, specifically Article 4, which stipulates that the Council shall address various practices, alliances, or explicit or implicit agreements between competing entities that disrupt competition or restrict it, particularly in the process of controlling the prices of goods and services intended for sale—whether by increasing, decreasing, or fixing them. It should be noted that Article 14 of the Executive Regulations of the Competition Law authorizes Council officials to enter establishments suspected of violating the provisions of this Law, to review all documents, and to conduct an immediate investigation into the violations attributed to. The Council is committed to protecting and promoting fair competition and combating monopolistic practices or practices that could affect legitimate competition in the Kingdom’s market and across various sectors. The Board of Directors is chaired by the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah.
