The Royal Commission for Riyadh City continues to implement the Prince Turki bin Abdulaziz I Road Development Project (northern section) by commencing work on its intersection with the Northern Ring Road, which includes the construction of three bridges. This is part of the ongoing phases of the project aimed at improving the efficiency of one of the most important traffic arteries in the northern part of the capital.
The Authority explained that the work currently underway will help increase the road’s capacity to more than 200,000 vehicles per day, and strengthen connections between vital transportation hubs in northern Riyadh, which will positively impact traffic flow and reduce travel times.

The section currently under construction as part of the Prince Turki bin Abdulaziz I Road development project, at its intersection with the Northern Ring Road, extends for more than 3 kilometers, and includes upgrading the road lanes and enhancing service levels through advanced engineering solutions aimed at improving the travel experience and boosting the efficiency of the capital’s road network.
These works are part of the Authority’s ongoing efforts to address traffic bottlenecks and strengthen connectivity between major hubs and vital areas, in line with the rapid urban and population growth Riyadh is experiencing.
The project is part of the Roads Ring Roads and Major Arterial Roads in Riyadh, which involves the construction and development of more than 500 kilometers of road network by improving the efficiency of existing corridors, building new roads, and enhancing integration among them; in support of building an integrated and sustainable urban transportation system and achieving quality-of-life goals in the capital.

The program also includes the development of a number of bridges and tunnels, as well as major intersections; with the aim of increasing the capacity of the road network, improving traffic flow, and to support integration with the public transportation system in Riyadh; in line with the objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 to develop advanced and sustainable infrastructure that supports economic and urban growth.
