The Development Authority for Medina Region has confirmed that the performance indicators for hospitality sector during the first quarter of 2026 reflect the sector’s continued growth in the region, supported by expanded capacity and increased readiness of hospitality facilities, thereby reinforcing Madinah’s position as a leading destination for hospitality and tourism and solidifying its role in supporting the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 aimed at enhancing the visitor experience and developing the tourism sector.

Data from the Ministry of Tourism showed that Madinah recorded the highest occupancy rate for hospitality facilities among the Kingdom’s cities at 82% during the first quarter of this year, while the average daily rate reached 453 riyals, and revenue per available room reached 372 riyals—indicators that reflect strong demand for the destination and the hospitality sector’s ability to accommodate the continuous growth in the number of visitors and Umrah pilgrims.
The Authority noted that the number of licensed tourist hospitality facilities in Madinah rose to 661 by the end of the first quarter of 2026, while the total number of licensed rooms reached 80,223, which represents approximately 15% of the total licensed rooms in the Kingdom, according to Ministry of Tourism indicators. This reflects growing tourism investments and the continued expansion of the hospitality sector’s infrastructure in the region.

Medina continues to achieve competitive results in sectoral indicators; it led the Kingdom in hotel occupancy rate at 84%, It also achieved top rankings in the average daily rate and revenue per available room indicators, alongside the outstanding performance of hotel apartments and other facilities, reflecting the sector’s maturity and sustainable growth.

The Madinah Region Development Authority affirmed that these indicators reflect the integrated efforts of various relevant entities to develop the tourism sector, and to enhance the appeal of Madinah as a global destination that welcomes visitors and Umrah pilgrims according to the highest quality standards, thereby contributing to economic development, improving quality of life, and strengthening the city’s competitiveness at both the local and international levels.
