As part of the Taif Road development project, the Royal Commission for Riyadh City a new package of construction works along this vital corridor, including the construction of the “Taif Road–Taybah Street Intersection Bridge,” which is 311 meters long, and 36 meters wide, connecting the intersection of Taif Road and Najd Street to the west with the Western Ring Road to the east; this will help improve traffic flow, in addition to engineering improvements at the site, including the construction of modern pedestrian bridges to ensure safe crossings and enhance the safety of road users.

This new phase aims to enhance traffic efficiency and reduce travel times by increasing the corridor’s capacity to approximately 200,000 vehicles per day through the provision of four main lanes in each direction along a 15-kilometer stretch.

With the start of fieldwork, the Authority has implemented a comprehensive traffic management plan in coordination with relevant authorities to ensure the continued smooth flow of traffic, which includes a temporary three-lane detour in each direction at the intersection of Taif Road and Taybah Street, to be implemented starting July 31, 2026. At the same time, the Authority is working to update digital systems and applications to provide periodic and real-time information on updates to these detours and to direct drivers toward alternative routes.

This project is part of the Major and Ring Road Hubs Program, which aims to implement and develop more than 500 km of the existing road network and the creation of new corridors to enhance connectivity among them, with the ultimate goal of building an integrated and sustainable urban transportation system that supports quality of life in the capital.
