The The Ministry of Commerce has warned commercial entities—including companies and institutions—against sharing or uploading their commercial, personal, and financial data via untrusted websites and online platforms that claim to store the digital identities of these entities, and lack legal standing, making it difficult to verify the purposes of data collection and the mechanisms for storing and protecting it.

The Ministry emphasized the importance of not providing any untrusted entity with data including commercial records, tax ID numbers, national addresses, contact numbers, bank accounts, IBAN numbers, documents, and attachments, or any data that could be used to identify the business or its owner, unless the entity, the purpose of data collection, and the legal basis for processing the data have been verified.
This warning comes amid a growing number of fake websites and platforms that claim to offer services under various names and ask users to upload and consolidate multiple types of data in one place, which may expose businesses and individuals to the risk of data misuse or sharing with third parties, especially if the platform operator, privacy policy, and purposes of data use are not verified.

The Ministry clarified that the use of logos or names by some platforms that suggest an affiliation with a government entity is not, in and of itself, evidence of such an affiliation. The Ministry urged businesses and individuals to access government services through official channels and platforms, to verify the service provider before entering or uploading any data, and to refrain from sharing passwords, verification codes, or login credentials for government or bank accounts with any party.

It emphasized that data protection is a shared responsibility, urging the public to report any commercial or online practices suspected of violating regulations through official channels, and not to click on links or use services that request more information than is necessary to provide the service.
