The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing confirmed that the grace period granted to landowners of vacant land will expire in 45 days, on 15 Rabi" al-Thani 1448 AH (September 26, 2026 CE), calling on landowners to take the initiative to rectify the status of their land and comply with the approved municipal requirements and regulations before the deadline expires.
The Ministry clarified that the deadline aims to enhance compliance levels regarding vacant land, and to address illegal uses and practices that affect the overall appearance of cities and provinces, most notably the accumulation of construction waste and excavation debris, and the unauthorized use of land.
It noted that municipal authorities and local governments are conducting field monitoring and inspections of vacant land across various regions of the Kingdom, to identify and address violations in accordance with approved municipal regulations and requirements, thereby contributing to increased compliance and reducing visual pollution.
The Ministry noted that adherence to the regulations governing vacant land contributes to improving the urban landscape, enhancing the quality of the built environment, and improving the quality of life in cities and provinces. It called on owners of vacant land to take advantage of the remaining grace period and proactively address the status of their land before it expires, in order to avoid the regulatory measures resulting from violations.
The Ministry affirmed that municipal authorities and local governments will continue to implement programs and initiatives to improve the urban landscape in various regions of the Kingdom, thereby supporting the goals of quality of life and sustainable urban development.
