The Ministry of Housing rejected the committee's request to exempt Awqaf lands located within the urban area from white land fees, as its role is limited only to application procedures according to the executive regulations.
Badr Al-Rajhi, head of the National Endowments Committee, said that many Western countries do not take fees on similar lands, calling on the Ministry of Housing to adopt their demands to the higher authorities, as they do not have sufficient funds to develop these lands in some cases.
He stated that for more than two years the committee has been communicating with the competent authorities, and will continue to communicate with them during the coming period, to exempt endowments and charitable works from any imposed government fees, not only white land fees, indicating that the exemption from fees contributes to increasing the number of those who endow their lands; which reflects positively on society.
Al-Rajhi ruled out the tendency of some land investors to stop their lands in order to circumvent the fees, as they are not feasible.
