The Samba report for the main sectors in the Kingdom expected that the Saudi economy is on the path of recovery from the semi-stagnation it witnessed last year and that the construction sector will achieve good performance during this year and next year, pointing out that the history of this sector is volatile and unstable during the past years, and the report explained that there are many contracts in 2009 AD that have not started to be implemented yet. The report added that one of the expected indicators that this sector will receive a strong push in the event that the mortgage law is approved, which in turn will provide sufficient liquidity to increase the construction movement and demand for materials significantly. Samba Bank stated in its report based on asset growth that the sector's performance should improve in the current year, Banks are highly liquid and are now looking at ways to grow their loan books (albeit cautiously), while loan demand from the private sector is accelerating. However, with ample liquidity and growing competition, loan spreads are starting to narrow again, and this is likely to affect profitability this year.
