After the deadline for filing a motion to set aside the ruling had passed, “Zain” announced that it had decided not to pursue the dispute with “Mobily,” confirming that it will pay the full amount awarded to Mobily—219.46 million riyals—pursuant to the arbitration award after receiving an order from the competent court to enforce it in accordance with the arbitration rules.
This was stated in a press release posted on the Tadawul website after the expiration of the 60-day deadline, which ended the day before yesterday, Monday—the period during which a request to enforce the arbitration award is not accepted.
The company confirmed that the enforcement of the arbitration award will have no negative financial impact on it, noting that it had previously set aside financial provisions covering the full amount awarded.
The arbitration panel had ordered “Zain” to pay 219.46 million riyals to ”Mobily” in the dispute between them. At the end of 2014, “Mobily” had requested arbitration regarding the amounts owed to it under the service agreement concluded with “Zain Saudi Arabia” “Zain Saudi Arabia” on May 6, 2008, amounting to 2.2 billion riyals, while “Zain” denied the claim, asserting that the amounts owed totaled only 13 million riyals.
