Transportation Minister in Dammam: Stalled projects are a priority for us... and we will deal firmly with contractors and consultants who fail to meet their obligations

Transportation Minister Dr. Nabil bin Mohammed Al-Amoudi affirmed that the ministry is paying close attention to stalled projects, explaining that the ministry will deal firmly and decisively with any negligence or delays, He made these remarks during his visit to Dammam yesterday, Wednesday, to inspect projects currently under construction and maintenance in the Eastern Province. He was accompanied by the Undersecretary for Roads, Engineer Majid bin Rafid Al-Arqoubi; the Director General of the Ministry’s branch in the region, Engineer Ahmed Al-Ghamdi; and a number of officials.

The Minister of Transportation began his inspection tour by thanking His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Eastern Province, for the personal attention and guidance His Highness has provided to the region’s projects, He then listened to a detailed presentation on the projects currently underway in the Eastern Province, where the total length of roads under construction amounts to 2,233 kilometers, distributed among highways, dual-lane roads, single-lane roads, and agricultural roads, including the final section of the road leading to the border crossing with the Sultanate of Oman; this project is considered to be at an advanced stage of implementation.

At the conclusion of the tour, the Minister of Transportation emphasized that the Dammam Ring Road project is a priority for him due to the previous contractor’s failure to deliver, which has disrupted the interests of the region’s residents and visitors, He added that bids for the project were opened in recent days after it was re-tendered, and the contract will be awarded to a contractor in the very near future. He emphasized that the Ministry will not tolerate negligence on the part of contractors or consultants and will act decisively in the public interest.
