As part of its efforts to support and strengthen its strategic partnerships, the Saudi Council of Engineers signed a memorandum of understanding with the International Project Management Offices (IPMO), on the sidelines of the International Engineering Conference and Exhibition in Riyadh, with the aim of strengthening working relationships between the two parties and leveraging mutual expertise, studies, and research to improve professional and institutional practices.
Following the signing, the Authority’s Chairman, Dr. Jamil Al-Baqawi, emphasized that the memorandum aims to support and strengthen the Authority’s strategic partnerships, activate and unify joint efforts, and achieve professional and economic benefits, noting that it aims to achieve shared objectives, including raising the competence and qualification levels of project management professionals among the Authority’s members, transferring and disseminating knowledge, and establishing mechanisms to connect project managers through professional development and the promotion of higher education at the master’sand doctoral levels in the fields of strategy, project leadership, and project management offices.
Al-Baqawi noted that the memorandum seeks to encourage support for specialized, accredited training courses at reduced costs; arrange field visits for project managers in the Kingdom; and facilitate participation in professional events both within and outside the Kingdom, noting the importance of strengthening scientific and practical fields and improving current and future cooperation as required.
The memorandum was signed by Al-Baqawi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Authority, and, on behalf of International Project Management Offices, CEO Dr. Robert Goslin, in the presence of the Vice Chairman of the Board of the Saudi Council of Engineers, Dr. Bassam Ghulman; the Secretary General of the Council, Engineer Sulaiman Al-Amoud; and a number of officials from both sides.
The signing of the memorandum took place on the sidelines of the International Engineering Conference and Exhibition, which saw a large turnout of engineers, making it the largest engineering gathering in the Kingdom. The Saudi Council of Engineers organized the educational component of the event, featuring more than 200 speakers, 48 scientific sessions, and representation from 32 countries, in addition to an exhibition showcasing the latest engineering technologies and inventions.
