«The Shura Council» Votes on Timelines for Land Distribution

During its session next Tuesday, the Shura Council will vote on the Housing Committee’s recommendations regarding the ministry’s annual report; the committee called for expediting the preparation of the ministry’s land holdings and establishing a timeline for their distribution to citizens, and to strengthen the private sector’s role in providing affordable housing units. Tomorrow, Monday, the Council will vote on the recommendations of the Finance Committee regarding the annual report of the General Auditing Bureau, The recommendations include expanding the scope of performance oversight to cover the plans and programs of all government agencies.
Specifically, the Shura Council will vote—during its session to be held tomorrow, Monday—— on the recommendations of the Finance Committee regarding the annual report of the General Auditing Bureau, after hearing the committee’s perspective on the views and comments expressed by members during the discussion of the report in a previous session.
Among the most notable recommendations on which the Council will vote are: Expanding the scope of performance oversight to include the plans, programs, and strategies of all government agencies, to verify that these agencies have utilized financial and human resources in the activities and tasks entrusted to them with the highest degree of efficiency, effectiveness, and economy.
The Council will begin its agenda for this session by discussing the report of the Committee on Educational Affairs and Scientific Research regarding a draft memorandum of understanding between King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology and the China National Space Administration in the field of space science and technology.
The Council will hear the views of the Committee on Economic Affairs and Energy regarding members’ comments and opinions on the general objectives of the Tenth Development Plan for 1436–1437 AH – 1440/1441 AH (2015–2019 CE).
The Council will discuss the report of the Committee on Transportation, Communications, and Information Technology regarding the proposal by Council member Maj. Gen. Dr. Muhammad Abu Saq to amend the Kingdom’s public road transportation regulations, pursuant to Article 23 of the Council’s regulations.
At the session to be held next Tuesday, the Council will vote on the draft regulation on the conclusion of international agreements, submitted by Council member Dr. Sadqa Fadel; pursuant to Article 23 of the Shura Council Regulations; this will take place after the Council hears the views of the Foreign Affairs Committee regarding the proposals and opinions expressed by members during the discussion of the draft in a previous session.
The Council will also vote on the recommendations of the Committee on Educational Affairs and Scientific Research regarding the annual report of the General Organization for Technical and Vocational Training, after the Council hears the Committee’s views on the opinions and inquiries raised by members during the discussion of the report in a previous session.
In one of its recommendations, the committee called on the Authority to delay the opening of additional colleges—referred to as “Colleges of Excellence”—until the quality of their graduates and the extent to which they are localizing technical training personnel can be verified.
The Council will vote on the recommendations of the Housing, Water, and Public Services Committee regarding the Ministry of Housing’s annual report, after hearing the committee’s views on the opinions and comments expressed by members regarding the report during its discussion at a previous session.
The committee called on the Ministry to expedite the preparation of its land holdings and establish a timeline for their distribution to citizens; it also called for strengthening the private sector’s role in contributing to the provision of housing units at affordable prices.
In addition, during the session, the Council will vote on the recommendations of the Administration and Human Resources Committee regarding the annual report of the General Organization for Social Insurance, after hearing the committee’s views on the members’ comments and opinions raised during the discussion of the organization’s report at a previous session.
