The number of real estate brokers registered in the “Ejar” system has risen to 6,000 agents, marking a 17% increase compared to the 5,000 agents registered before the program’s official launch last February.
Mohammed Al-Bati, General Supervisor of the “Ejar” sector at the Ministry of Housing, explained that “the number of real estate brokers registered in the Ejar system increased by 1,000 brokers in one month, reaching 6,000 real estate brokers,” emphasizing that “Ejar” will provide a brief behavioral record for both tenants and landlords.
Al-Bati noted that there are numerous benefits to the Ejar network, most notably contributing to the protection of rights and reducing the influx of rental disputes in the courts, and helping to boost GDP and stimulate investment in the real estate sector by regulating investment in real estate rental services.
He noted that the system creates more “both direct and indirect” through training and qualifying workers in the rental sector, and works to strengthen national security by verifying the identities of parties to the rental transaction, residential units, and financial transactions.
It is worth noting that the fee for registering residential and commercial lease contracts on the “Electronic Rental Network” as stipulated by the Cabinet’s decision in coordination with the Ministries of Housing and Justice, is set at 250 riyals for residential leases and 400 riyals for commercial leases, to be paid by the landlord in exchange for the services provided, including payment processing, integration with relevant authorities, and access to the tenant’s credit history, and that the proceeds from this fee will go directly to support those in financial distress.
The “Ijar” program is an integrated system aimed at developing the Kingdom’s housing and real estate sector in a balanced manner by finding sustainable solutions to real estate market challenges that preserve the rights of all parties involved in the standardized residential lease agreement.
The electronic network for rental services is one of the most important of these solutions, designed to regulate the relationship between the parties involved in the rental process—the tenant, the landlord, real estate broker.“ It offers a suite of integrated electronic services that will contribute to fostering transparency, trust, and impartiality in the rental sector.
