The value of contracts for the purchase of housing, homes, land and commercial real estate in Germany increased in 2017 to 250 billion euros, an increase of about 9 percent compared to its value in 2016, with the number of purchase contracts remaining stable in each of the past two years, between 900,000 and one million contracts, according to official expert committees.

The German News Agency quoted Peter Akhe, director of the expert committees, as saying that real estate prices are rising, adding that this trend has been continuing in the German real estate market for ten years, and Akhe explained that there is little supply, pointing to the lack of supply of building land in the market, noting that this applies mainly to large cities, and that low interest rates were the reason for the price explosion in the real estate market, and the German housing market, which is already limited, faces additional pressure from wealthy customers from all over the world.
