“Shura calls for a timetable for the launch and operation of free and economic zones in Saudi Arabia

The Shura Council called on the Ministry of Commerce to expedite the removal of obstacles facing the launch and operation of free and economic zones in the Kingdom within a timetable compatible with the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, calling on the Ministry - in integration with the relevant government agencies - to expedite the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the executive axis of the program to combat commercial concealment.
This came in a decision taken by the Council during its thirty-eighth regular session of the first year of the eighth session, held today via video link, chaired by His Excellency the Vice President of the Council Dr. Meshaal bin Fahmi Al Salmi, after the Council listened to “Every person licensed to practice the legal profession must obtain the basic membership of the Saudi Bar Association within (90) days of obtaining a law license.”
The Council's decision also included confirming that all lawyers who have a license to practice the legal profession and whose names are included in the list of practicing lawyers - at the time of the entry into force of the amendment referred to in recommendation (first) above - correct their status with regard to obtaining the basic membership of the Saudi Bar Association within (180) days from the date of its implementation.
Among the topics on the agenda of this session, the Council discussed a report submitted by the Social Affairs, Family and Youth Committee, read by the Chairman of the Committee, Dr. Wasel Al-Maden, regarding the annual report of the Public Authority for Endowments for the fiscal year 1441 / 1442 AH, after the committee completed the study of the report and made a number of recommendations.
In its report, the Committee considered the importance of holding partnerships with the private sector to establish quality endowments with long-term goals, working with the relevant authorities to remove encroachments on endowments and remove procedural obstacles, stressing the need to coordinate with the relevant authorities to work on establishing a fund to lend endowments to develop them and finance their various projects, and coordinate with the relevant authorities to complete electronic linkage and digital transformation in all its dealings.<After presenting the committee's report and recommendations for discussion, Shura Council member Dr. Abdullah Al-Najjar called on the General Authority for Endowments to enact clear and explicit laws in coordination with the Ministry of Justice and relevant authorities and publish them through appropriate media to remove the fear of legal procedures among some endowments.
The Chairman of the Committee requested at the end of the discussion to give the Committee more time to study the opinions and proposals raised and return its views to the Council in a subsequent session.
The Shura Council also discussed during its session a report submitted by the Economic and Energy Committee on the annual report of the Nuclear and Radiological Control Authority (NRCA)The Committee - according to its report before the Council - considered the importance of the Authority to coordinate with King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy to work on the realization of the National Radioactive Waste Management Facility project and work to upgrade the temporary site in accordance with nuclear and radiation safety standards, in addition to coordinating with the relevant authorities to carry out the necessary tests to detect the levels of radioactivity of natural radioactive isotopes of groundwater sources, and spread the culture of nuclear and radiation safety.

The committee considered in its report that the ministry should expand the investment in the successful experience in “distance“ education in order to enhance the exchange of experiences and outstanding competencies of faculty members between Saudi and foreign universities and raise the efficiency of spending.
After the report and its recommendations were presented for discussion, the Council heard a number of interventions from Council members, as Council member Dr. Hassan Al-Hazmi called on the Ministry of Education to convey its enthusiasm and conviction in its new study plan to teachers and students because they are the focus of the educational process and no plan will succeed without them, while Council member Dr. Sultan Al Farah praised the Ministry of Education success in erasing illiteracy and illiteracy
