The Cabinet has approved a mechanism for dealing with land on which mosques have been built but for which there are no valid title deeds. The decision calls for the formation of a committee chaired by the General Authority for State Real Estate and comprising representatives from each of the following ministries: (Islamic Affairs, Da’wah, and Guidance; and Municipal, Rural Affairs, and Housing), which will be responsible for identifying mosques built on land without valid title deeds in cities, governorates, and districts, in accordance with a work plan to be completed within a period not exceeding 180 days from the approval of the specific mechanism for handling such land.
The committee is responsible for reviewing the status of each mosque built on land without a valid title deed and determining whether public utilities (such as electricity and water) have been connected to it, and has established guidelines for addressing the situations of mosques without valid title deeds both within and outside urban areas.
