Jeddah Municipality begins enforcing the fencing of vacant land on the main axes and streets

Jeddah Municipality has started implementing the decision to fence off vacant lands on the “targeted” main axes and streets as of July 1 after the expiration of the deadline, stressing that it will apply the penalties for municipal violations and monitor owners' compliance.

The axes and streets targeted by the fencing decision include (King Abdulaziz Road, Andalusia Road, Prince Majed Road, Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Road, King Fahd Road, King Abdullah Road, Medina Road, Prince Sultan Street, Al Salam Street, Sari Street, Palestine Street, Hira Street).

The Municipality pointed out that the axes and streets targeted by the fencing decision include The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing has launched its awareness campaign to implement the decision to fence off vacant lands, as the decision targets owners of vacant (commercial) lands located on the main axes with high traffic density in the main cities (Riyadh, Jeddah, Makkah, Medina and Dammam), which will be illustrated through a GIS program within the initiative to address visual distortion

The campaign came in two phases, where the first included the announcement of the targeted axes and the launch of the fencing guide, and the second phase began as of today, July 1, 2022, which is represented in the control and application of the regulation and monitoring the compliance of owners with the aim of improving the urban landscape by standardizing the appearance of vacant lands surrounding buildings, reducing the accumulation of waste inside these lands, protecting them from encroachments and clarifying the boundaries of ownership of the land.
