King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah saw a significant increase in passenger numbers, estimated at 22.4%, during the mid-semester break, with 662,070 passengers compared to 540,634 passengers during the same period last year. This had a positive impact on tourist accommodations in the Makkah region in general and the Holy City in particular, with the occupancy rate for hotels in the central district reaching 80%, according to Mazen Andigani, Director of Sales at the Makkah Sa’a Group, which includes the Fairmont Makkah, Raffles Makkah, and Swissotel Makkah.

For his part, Abdulrahman Al-Fahd, Acting Assistant General Manager for Public Relations at Saudi Airlines, confirmed that King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah was fully prepared for the semester break season, which sees a large influx of travelers every year, by mobilizing all available resources and providing the best services to travelers to ensure their journeys are smooth, convenient, and comfortable.

In the same vein, Majdi Younis, Director of Licensing at the Makkah branch of the General Authority for Tourism and Antiquities, explained that the occupancy rate of tourist accommodations in the Holy City during the second-semester mid-term break ranged between 80-90%, depending on their distance from the central area of Makkah. He expects the occupancy rate to rise further during the upcoming month of Ramadan, which coincides with the end-of-school-year break, based on hotel booking indicators.
