Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing continues its efforts to develop and humanize cities and upgrade their services to meet the aspirations of their residents and visitors, through various programs and initiatives that aim to achieve this in line with the Kingdom's Vision 2030, more than 30% of whose objectives the ministry is directly and indirectly concerned.

Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing (MMRAH) has reviewed its achievements at the level of the municipal and residential sector.

During the 2024 Budget Forum held the day before yesterday, the Ministry reviewed the most prominent achievements in the municipal and residential sectors, and revealed its most important targets for the coming year in order to continue its efforts to serve citizens and residents and promote the development of cities, which it works to follow and measure through 8 main tracks (urban planning, urban landscape, infrastructure, hygiene and public health, legislation, compliance, privatization and smart municipalities), where these tracks include 22 indicators to measure their progress and their contribution to improving the quality of life in cities.

Strengthening the urban landscape

Among the most notable steps taken by <a href="https://amlak.net.In order to enhance the urban landscape and the concept of quality of life, the Ministry launched the "Bahja“ project, which aims to create a vibrant urban environment that encourages walking and social interaction by targeting the creation and development of 7,000 gardens and 1,500 urban interventions across all regions of the Kingdom by 2030, so that they are an extension of homes, allowing residents to have access to parks and interventions. The percentage of urban agglomerations hosting gardens by 2023 has reached more than 58%, in addition to continuing efforts to address visual distortion by identifying 43 elements that are working to address them within a seven-year integrated national campaign entitled ”Precious to Us“ in partnership with various relevant authorities.

As part of its efforts to promote sustainability, the Ministry is working with 70 major national projects with areas exceeding 30 million m2 to promote the concept of sustainability in residential and commercial projects and communities, according to criteria that measure the sustainability of these projects and follow environmental requirements to increase their operational efficiency and keep pace with the concept of humanization. In order to promote real estate movement within urban blocks and provide land at affordable prices and within the ”White Lands“ program, the total land that has been completed, started development or entered the trading area reached 189 million m2 across 18 cities.

As part of its efforts in promoting sustainability, the Ministry is working with 70 major national projects with areas exceeding 30 million m2.

As part of the ministry's target to privatize 70% of its services, the ministry announced that it has reached the privatization of 19% of municipal services and next year it aims to reach 30%.

In the housing sector, the ministry continued to provide housing and financing solutions for Saudi families under the umbrella of the "Housing Program“, benefiting more than 1.5 million families until 2023, including 747 thousand families whose mortgages were supported through the Real Estate Development Fund, in addition to offering more than 160 thousand housing units with prices starting from 300 thousand riyals in residential complexes and suburbs with integrated facilities and services within the framework of ”housing and more“, distributed in various regions and fully developed by the National Housing Company, and the target of providing 300 thousand housing units until 2025, in partnership with local and international real estate developers, in order to contribute to reaching the rate of residential ownership to 70% by 2030.

Providing adequate housing for the neediest families

<The Ministry has been able to serve 32,000 families, including 17,000 families during this year 2023, in partnership with more than 400 associations, in addition to the community contributions provided by the "Good Housing" platform to provide housing for the neediest families, as the contributions amounted to 2.5 billion through 6 million individuals who initiated their giving and presence, which contributed to serving 11,000 families.

As for the regulation of the real estate sector, the Ministry was able to serve 32,000 families, including 17,000 families during this year 2023, in partnership with more than 400 associations. Within the framework of regulating the real estate sector and promoting the concept of a balanced and sustainable housing environment and preserving the rights of all parties, and through the efforts of the General Authority for Real Estate, the positive impact of the programs launched within the "Housing Program“ stands out, including the ”Ejar“ program, where the number of leases documented through the electronic network exceeded 8 million residential and commercial leases, including about 2.8 million contracts documented during this year, in addition to the results of other programs such as ”Malak“, ”Wafi“, ”Completion”, the Real Estate Contributions System, the Real Estate Registration Company and others.
