Infrastructure Fund...and the features of the future

Hani Khashoggi

The Vision 2030 train continues its upward journey, achieving everything the Kingdom plans for and everything the citizen wishes for, to live within a strong state that enjoys all the advantages of sustainability, development, and prosperity. Because the Vision adopts the scientific method - and nothing else - as a methodology that illuminates its path, it puts all possibilities in place to ensure the success of future plans, as if it does not want to leave anything to chance, but rather prepares for it as it should.

The scientific approach in detailing the ambitious vision explains to us the reasons that prompted the Cabinet to approve the National Infrastructure Fund system . This fund reflects the Kingdom’s keenness to secure all the appropriate conditions for the success of the mega-projects brought about by the vision. These projects include the water, energy, transportation, and other sectors, based on the Kingdom’s belief that the next stage of the vision’s life requires special services.

The fund's details and general objectives appear numerous and varied, serving the Kingdom's economic landscape and reflecting an official commitment adopted by the Kingdom's government to the quality of infrastructure projects. This indicates that the Kingdom, despite having been interested in infrastructure projects for decades and allocating huge budgets to them, has decided to increase this interest by regulating and supporting it with scientific methods that reveal the extent of the Kingdom's aspirations to launch mega-projects that require a strong infrastructure. The presence of twelve banks and funds under the umbrella of the fund helps in attracting foreign investments to participate in implementing the Vision projects. This participation will not be traditional, but rather different according to the directions of the Vision, which is based on promoting development, modernization, and innovation.

I am not exaggerating when I affirm that the fund will, within a short period of its launch, become a fundamental pillar in the implementation of quality projects that the Kingdom is working to carry out on the ground, taking into account future developments, the steady increase in the population, and the basic needs that contribute to raising the quality of life, which is an important goal within the goals of the vision.

The whole picture confirms that the Kingdom is about to embark on a boom of major and high-quality projects, which require good preparation. The most important of these preparations is to have a model infrastructure capable of serving these projects of all kinds, including complex technology projects. This indicates that the new infrastructure projects go beyond paving roads and enhancing services such as electricity, sewage and telephones, to something beyond that, with infrastructure services that provide modern technologies.

The standards of the National Infrastructure Fund’s work seem to place the Kingdom on the threshold of a completely new phase of the Vision 2030 path, half of which has passed, and the other half remains. During this time, the Kingdom is accelerating the pace of its efforts with precise work mechanisms and well-thought-out programs to ensure the success of what remains of the Vision plans. This reflects the Kingdom’s keenness to ensure that the wheel of development in the Kingdom continues at its rapid pace without stopping, overcoming the challenges of the international economy and the decline in growth. This means that the Kingdom has decided to continue implementing the economic reform programs as they are, without retreat.
