The Red Sea Project one of the most ambitious projects led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under Vision 2030, which aims to diversify the national economy and elevate the Kingdom’s status as a global tourist destination. The project, overseen by The Red Sea Development Company, involves transforming 90 natural islands along the Red Sea coast into a network of luxury resorts that blend natural beauty with technological innovation, with a focus on sustainability.
Project Vision and Objectives
The project’s vision is to build a distinctive tourist destination that leverages the enchanting natural features of the Red Sea. The project aims to:
• Diversify the national economy: by reducing dependence on oil and creating new sources of income from luxury tourism.
• Attract global tourism: draw affluent visitors from around the world by offering unique experiences characterized by luxury and opulence.
• Promoting environmental sustainability: The project is committed to protecting sensitive ecosystems, with only 22 of the 90 islands being developed, while the remaining areas are preserved as natural habitats.
Project Details
• Location and Area: The project spans 200 kilometers along the Kingdom’s western coast. The location features white-sand beaches, rare coral reefs, and diverse marine life.
• Infrastructure and Facilities: The project will include more than 50 resorts, specialized airports, and recreational and cultural facilities that meet the needs of discerning tourists.
• Innovation and Technology: The project relies on the latest sustainable construction and renewable energy technologies, including the use of clean energy sources such as solar power.

One of the most significant challenges facing the project is striking a balance between development and environmental conservation. To this end, The Red Sea Development Company has developed innovative strategies that include:

• The project is expected to contribute approximately 22 billion Saudi riyals to the gross domestic product by 2030.
