Minister of Transport and Logistics Saleh Al Jasser revealed that 80% of the targeted investments in the transportation and logistics sector will be from the private sector, as part of strengthening the public-private partnership. The minister's remarks came during a panel discussion at the Public Investment Fund and Private Sector Forum, which kicked off today in Riyadh, where he emphasized that these investments will be through multiple models of partnership and integration between the two sectors.
Jasser pointed out that 80% of the targeted investments in the transportation and logistics sector will come from the private sector, within the framework of promoting public-private partnership. Al-Jasser pointed out that the partnership with the private sector included contracts in the maritime sector and ports worth more than 18 billion Saudi riyals, stressing that the vast percentage of investments in ports comes through the private sector.
The minister explained that the total amount of investments in the maritime and ports sector is more than 18 billion Saudi riyals. The minister explained that the total investment opportunities that will be offered through PPP models amount to 240 billion riyals, including various transportation and logistics sectors.
As part of the expansion of PPP, Al-Jasser pointed out that PPP includes contracts in the maritime and ports sector worth more than 18 billion Saudi riyals. Within the framework of expanding the partnership with the private sector, Al-Jasser noted that four airports have been offered to the private sector for investment in construction and management, namely Abha, Taif, Hail, and Qassim airports.
