“Zakat carries out more than 15 thousand inspection visits in May

The visits included the retail, tobacco and gold sectors and revealed irregularities in invoices, notices and tax stamps, with a reward system for reporting.

Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority carried out more than 15,000 inspection visits during the month of May 2025 on markets and shops in various regions and cities of the Kingdom. <The Authority explained that the visits carried out by its monitoring and inspection teams included a number of commercial sectors, most notably: The retail sector, tobacco, gold, and public services. The Authority indicated that the most prominent violations monitored by the control teams are the violations of not having tax seals, not issuing electronic debit or credit notices, in addition to the violation of not issuing an electronic tax invoice.

The Authority stated that these visits aim to enhance the level of compliance with the provisions of the tax laws in force in the Kingdom among taxpayers from the business sector, and reduce commercial transactions that violate the instructions and controls that fall within the competence of the Authority, in addition to the supervisory efforts carried out by field inspection teams.

The Authority called on consumers to pay attention to the violations detected by the inspection teams. ZATCA called on consumers to report any establishment found to have any of the tax violations via the website (zatca.gov.sa) or through ZATCA's application for smart phones (ZATCA), as the Authority offers incentive rewards to those who report tax violations by (2.5)% of the value of violations and fines, with a maximum of one million riyals or (1000) riyals as a minimum.
