A report issued by Medina Chamber yesterday showed that the activities of the accommodation sector, travel agencies, and tour organization recorded an increase of (18.7%) during the year 2024 (compared to the previous year), reviewing the importance of <a href="https://amlak.The tourism sector in Madinah in supporting economic growth, increasing GDP through tourism spending on accommodation, transportation, shopping, and other services, creating job opportunities in tourism sector activities, and achieving sustainable economic diversification.
Elements of the tourism sector in Medina
The report reviewed the most prominent elements of the tourism sector in Medina, indicating that it hosts about (400) religious, historical and cultural landmarks that attract visitors from different countries of the world, most notably the Prophet's Mosque, historical grand mosques, a group of museums, exhibitions, modern tourist destinations, and historical sites that have been rehabilitated and developed to receive individuals, such as valleys, historical wells, and archaeological sites, to form a tributary to support the tourism sector in the region.
He pointed out the possibility of exploiting the tourist attractions in Medina through integrated strategies, including infrastructure development, hotel investment, by building hotels and resorts next to tourist attractions, and developing the short-term rentals sector through world-famous platforms to accommodate the growing demand for the sector.
According to the report, the areas of development of the tourism sector include expanding the organization of cultural events, supporting entrepreneurship, increasing economic returns from tourism, providing job opportunities for the people of the region, stimulating entrepreneurship and investments in the tourism sector, such as encouraging health and wellness tourism, promoting environmental, recreational, cultural and heritage tourism, and supporting efforts to develop tourism infrastructure.
