The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing has confirmed that the requirements for for warehouses and storage facilities are intended to develop and improve the business environment, assist those wishing to invest in this sector, and raise the level of compliance to address visual disturbances, and to designate suitable locations that facilitate the distribution and delivery of goods, emphasizing the importance of adhering to these requirements to limit risks, unregulated practices, and visual disturbances in cities, and calling for the immediate reporting of any violations related to unlicensed storage via the Unified Reporting Center at 940 or through the “Snap and Send” feature in the “Baladi” app.

The Ministry clarified that these requirements are part of its ongoing efforts to enhance quality of life, improve the urban landscape, maintain public safety, and curb haphazard practices that violate regulations and requirements, and expose residents and infrastructure to multiple risks.

It noted that using facilities within residential neighborhoods or non-commercial streets for storage purposes without obtaining a permit, engaging in storage activities that do not comply with the original commercial license, or having warehouses in unauthorized locations within the urban area are consideredlisted in the municipal penalties schedule, noting that unregulated storage is one of the most significant sources of danger within neighborhoods, given the resulting threat to public safety, the blighting of the urban landscape, and the violation of designated land uses.

It noted that reporting unlicensed storage within the urban area helps reduce the risk of fires and damage to goods and various materials, put an end to haphazard practices and activities within neighborhoods, promote adherence to safety procedures and mitigate risks before they occur, ensure a safe environment within licensed and regulated warehouses that comply with approved requirements, as well as improve the urban environment at the city level and achieve the highest standards of regulation and compliance.

It should be noted that the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing has made it possible to report violations through the unified number 940 and the “Baladi” app by accessing the “Reports” option under the “Take a Photo and Send” service, selecting the “Unlicensed Storage” and uploading a photo of the violation.
