The Ministry of Housing has begun distributing the first phase of its projects in Riyadh “Land and Loan” project northwest of the airport, comprising 2,242 plots. The distribution committee at the headquarters received eligible recipients in batches according to specific delivery dates, and distribution will continue over the coming days.

Integrated Infrastructure for the Project

Housing Minister Dr.Shuishal-Duwaihi, that the northwest Riyadh project serves all residents while ensuring the highest levels of safety, noting that the infrastructure includes an integrated stormwater drainage network, as well as separate networks for water supply and sewage.

Dr. Al-Duwaihi said that the Ministry’s projects meet high standards and will serve their beneficiaries appropriately, adding that the Ministry was keen to make the Riyadh project distinctive through its amenities, citing as examples the large parks and green spaces, as well as the natural valleys that were leftas they are in their natural state without any intervention and are surrounded by areas for walking and exercising, in addition to spaces for multi-story buildings with apartments measuring 180 m² per unit.

Features of “Land and Loan”

For his part, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Housing for Planning and Studies and the ministry’s official spokesperson, Eng. Muhammad Al-Zami, explained that the Riyadh ”Land and Loan” project, launched by the ministry, is considered the first of the ministry’s initiatives in Riyadh. He added: ”There are similar projects that will soon be rolled out in a number of regions across the Kingdom.” He noted that the land on which the Northwest Riyadh project was built underwent suitability testing for construction, as approved by the Geological Survey Authority, followed by the establishment of the project’s infrastructure.

Al-Zami added during a recent press conference held at the Ministry of Housing headquarters: “We allocated this project some time ago, and distribution began last week. We are striving to serve all those who have been allocated plots through a dedicated team stationed at the project site, where we assist beneficiaries by explaining all relevant details to them, including the project’s features and the land’s location on the map, and then accompany them to the land site with one of the project staff members.” He emphasized that the Ministry provides logistical services to any beneficiary who requests them, including providing a building plan free of charge if they wish to use it, with no costs incurred by the beneficiary.

He said that the Ministry had sent text messages to eligible beneficiaries who had been allocated land in this project based on priority in eligibility criteria, The project consists of integrated infrastructure, including a main power substation and two drinking water pumping reservoirs—the first with a capacity of 24,400 m³ and the second with a capacity of 31,800 m³, in addition to an irrigation reservoir with a capacity of 7,425 m³ and a wastewater treatment plant. It also includes roads totaling 42,522 meters in length with an integrated street lighting network, as well as designated areas for parks and public services.

Project Components

The project consists of an integrated infrastructure, including a main power substation and two drinking water reservoirs—the first with a capacity of 24,400 m³ and the second with a capacity of 31,800 m³, as well as an irrigation reservoir with a capacity of 7,425 m³ and a wastewater treatment plant.

The project’s roads total 42.5 kilometers, with an integrated street lighting network and designated areas for parks and public services.

Regarding the consequences that may arise if an eligible citizen refuses the housing unit allocated to them, a source at the “Ministry of Housing” explained : “There is absolutely no burden on the Ministry,” noting that the automated system and the selection of candidates are conducted through a convenient automated process. He pointed out that the only manual procedure we apply is the “the ‘inspection mechanism,’” and emphasized that the system records the citizen’s waiver of the allocated unit and grants the opportunity to another citizen without forfeiting the original citizen’s right; they remain eligible but are removed from the priority list.

46 Projects Across All Regions

Regarding the delivery date for the 750 citizens to receive their housing units, as promised by the Minister of Housing, Engineer Al-Zuma’i said: “We are committed to this promise, and a timeline will be established for it,” but he stressed the need to note that it is not possible to provide all of them with their housing units at once.

The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Housing continued his overview of the ministry’s projects, noting that the ministry currently has approximately 46 projects across all regions of the Kingdom, comprising a total of 13,000 housing units.
