1.3 million housing beneficiaries' hopes revived by new proposals to activate public-private partnerships

<The recent royal speech delivered by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz last week gave private sector companies the green light, opening the door wide open for them to contribute to the development of this country because they are partners in development. Earlier, the Ministry of Housing went in the same direction and extended its hand to real estate development companies to contribute to finding additional solutions that enable beneficiaries to realize their wish to provide them with housing. For all these concerns and dilemmas, King Salman's vision has opened the horizons for investors and entrepreneurs to work as a team with government agencies to provide adequate housing for citizens. Especially since this concern occupies the thought of the leadership at its highest levels, and what was mentioned in the speech of King Salman - may God protect him - is the biggest proof of this (for housing, we are determined, with God's help and strength, to develop urgent practical solutions that ensure the provision of adequate housing for the citizen.

1.3 million people are eligible for housing

In light of the positive changes on the political and developmental map, we are encouraged by the Council of Economy and Development, chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and his directives so that the waiting lists do not pile up with 1.3 million people entitled to housing support according to the eligibility declared by the Ministry of Housing, and the waiting lists of the Real Estate Development Fund. The leader's words were to quickly put urgent solutions in place.

Partnership formulas to activate the government and private sector

In order to activate the role of the private sector in providing housing products, several proposals have been proposed to work in partnership with government agencies, which are represented in the following proposals:

1- Establishing a government-invested housing company that guarantees the flow of housing products.

2. <2-Coordination between the Ministry of Housing and the Real Estate Fund with the Monetary Authority to activate subsidized financing products. <3-Partnership between the government and landowners to convert them into housing products. <4-Partnership between the government sector and developers according to controls that achieve affordable housing products.

5-The Real Estate Development Fund to launch housing investment funds to maximize the capital of citizens who subscribe and are entitled to housing.

Private Sector Capacity to Produce

<Perhaps this map was drawn by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques by activating the partnership with the private sector. This is because this sector, according to local and international economic evidence, is the most capable of absorbing youth, achieving decent living opportunities, and in the specificity of housing; it is certainly the most capable, provided that effective work mechanisms are legalized, reducing time, raising quality, and most importantly achieving products at prices commensurate with the capabilities of many citizens. Especially since the government sector has the capabilities of time through licenses, official approvals, and financing. On the other hand, the private sector has the potential, the accumulated knowledge in knowing the needs of consumers, and the ability to achieve diversity in population outputs to create communities that differ in their social backgrounds and economic capacity.
