The Medina Municipality handed over to Saudi Aramco the site allocated for the construction of the sports stadium, in implementation of the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to establish eleven sports stadiums in a number of regions of the Kingdom, including the Medina region, at the highest international specifications and standards, similar to what has been achieved in King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah.
