Al-Hokair: Establishment of a Hotel Management Institute in the Eastern Province

Al-Hokair Group for Tourism and Development has announced its intention to establish a specialized institute in the Eastern Province to train Saudi youth of both genders in hotel management and hospitality. The institute will be located between Dammam and Al-Khobar.
According to Sami Al-Hokair, CEO of Al-Hokair Group for Tourism and Development, the group has approved the establishment of a specialized institute to train young people in the hotel and hospitality industry, in collaboration with a Swiss company specializing in management, operations, and marketing.
Al-Hakeer stated, “Classes will begin in 2015, with support from the Human Resources Fund and the General Authority for Tourism and Antiquities, in addition to entities and sectors operating in the hospitality industry in the Kingdom,” noting that the institute can accommodate 500 students annually and will offer a curriculum combining coursework and practical training. He added that this is the group’s fourth such institute, following those in Riyadh, Jizan, and Ha’il.
Al-Hakeer made these remarks during a press conference following the inauguration of the DoubleTree Hotel, one of Hilton Worldwide’s properties in Dhahran, last week, the first attended by Engineer Abdul Latif Al-Banyan, Executive Director of the Tourism and Antiquities Authority in the Eastern Province, and that the project’s total cost exceeded 150 million riyals, that the group operates more than 28 hotels across various regions of the Kingdom, in addition to five hotels in Jordan, Lebanon, and the United Arab Emirates.
For his part, Engineer Abdul Latif Al-Banyan, Executive Director of the Eastern Province Tourism and Antiquities Authority, emphasized that the Al-Hokair Group’s announcement of the establishment of a specialized institute to train Saudi youth will open up many job opportunities for Saudi youth in the hotel and hospitality sector, which is now considered one of the most sectors in the Kingdom.
