The the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority (ZATKA) carried out more than 20,000 inspection visits last November at markets and commercial establishments in various regions and cities across the Kingdom.

ZATKA spokesperson Hamoud Al-Harbi explained that the visits carried out by its monitoring and inspection teams covered a number of commercial sectors, most notably: retail, tobacco, public benefit markets, and service offices.

Al-Harbi added that the most prominent violations detected by the inspection teams included the absence of tax stamps, failure to issue debtor and creditor notices, and failure to issue electronic tax invoices.

The official spokesperson stated that these visits aim to enhance compliance with the Kingdom’s current tax regulations among taxpayers in the business sector, achieve tax fairness, and curb commercial transactions that violate the instructions and controls thatwithin the Authority’s jurisdiction, and that this is part of the oversight efforts carried out by its field inspection teams.

Al-Harbi called on consumers to report any business found to be committing tax violations via the website: (https://zatca.gov.sa/ar/Pages/default.aspx) or via the “ZATCA” smartphone app. In accordance with specific regulations, the Authority offers incentive rewards to those who report tax violations, amounting to 2.5% of the value of the violations and fines, with a maximum of one million riyals and a minimum of 1,000 riyals.
