The Saudi Green Building Forum (SGBF) announced that 312 green building projects have been registered under the Saaf system in 22 Arab countries, with a total area of 785,123.20 square meters, reflecting the expanding regional impact of the Saudi system in supporting the transition towards a low-carbon built environment.

The SGBF has announced the registration of 312 green building projects under the Saaf system in 22 Arab countries, with a total area of (785,123.20) square meters, reflecting the expansion of the regional impact of the Saudi system in supporting the transition towards a low-carbon urban environment. According to the Sufficiency methodology integrated into the Saaf system, the Forum said that the projects contribute to an estimated annual operational reduction of 62,800 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO₂e) compared to traditional practices in the building sector by reducing energy and water demand, improving climate design, and rationalizing usage before applying efficiency solutions.

The announcement comes as part of the Saaf Forum's ongoing efforts to support the transition towards a low-carbon built environment in Saudi Arabia.

This announcement comes as part of the Saudi Green Building Forum's contribution to the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction (Global ABC) in the preparation of the Global State of Buildings and Construction Report.

<Faisal Al Fadl, Secretary General of the Saudi Green Building Forum, said:”These figures represent a qualitative harvest for the year 2025, and we conclude the year 2025 with an achievement that reflects the confidence of the Arab region in the SAFE system, as a national professional framework that leads the transformation in the construction sector on the basis of efficiency before efficiency, registering more than 312 projects in 22 Arab countries, and achieving an estimated impact of more than 62 thousand tons of emissions reduction annually, confirms that investing in green buildings is no longer an environmental option, but a developmental, economic and strategic path that serves the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 and supports our commitments to global climate action.”

“During the next phase, the Forum will continue to strengthen regional and international partnerships, develop measurement and verification tools, and expand the scope of Saaf's application to include projects, products and professional competencies, in order to contribute to the localization of the Sustainable Development Goals, especially Goals 6, 7, 9, 11 and 12, and support Goal 13 for climate action.”

Fadl concluded. <Al Fadl concluded by emphasizing the Forum's commitment to continue cooperating with the relevant authorities, the United Nations system and the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction, to enhance the representation of the Arab region in international efforts to decarbonize the buildings and construction sector, and to consolidate the Kingdom's role as a leading model in sustainability and environmental innovation.
