Think data, circular design, and buildings that serve a purpose
Following the Saudi Architecture Leaders Forum, the Big 5 Talks sessions took center stage on the third day, bringing together industry experts to discuss data-driven design, sustainable materials, façade performance, and digital transformation. After the Architecture Leaders Forum in Saudi Arabia, the Big 5 Talks sessions took center stage on the third day.
<In an insightful presentation titled Designing with Data: Smarter Decisions for Better Buildings, Mohamed Jibril, President of the World Green Building Council MENA, highlighted the role of data and AI in improving cost efficiency and environmental performance, noting that buildings account for 32% of global energy use and 34% of carbon dioxide (CO²) emissions. “AI enhances professional judgment, not replaces designers,” he said, emphasizing the importance of making decisions in the early stages rather than course-correcting at late stages.
<In another session titled “Planning High Performance Buildings through Early Design Driven by Sustainability”, Tamer Dahdouli, Associate Director at Diriyah, emphasized that performance-based buildings should be designed around purpose, resource efficiency and long-term value, not just initial cost. “Before considering the cost of a building, first look at its purpose,” he said.

Continued cooperation in the Kingdom's building and construction ecosystem
<Cross-industry collaboration remained a prominent focus, with several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) announced during the week. NWII.III Interiors and Bait Hail signed an agreement covering a number of mixed-use projects, focusing on the integration of cladding and flooring solutions.
